
Moldova's application for membership of European Union presented in Brussels
Chisinau, March 5 / MOLDPRES /- Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union Daniela Morari presented on Friday to Ambassador Philippe Léglise-Costa, Permanent Representative of France to the EU our country's application for membership in the European Union, the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU has reported.
France currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On Thursday, President Maia Sandu signed the application for our country's accession to the European Union, the document being countersigned by speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
"The Republic of Moldova must have a clear European path and we are ready to do everything to achieve this national and fundamental goal. We will go through all the steps to build the prosperous future of our people. By sharing our European aspirations, the European Union will show the world how great the power of democracy and freedom is. We know exactly what we have to do. Together we will be stronger ", Maia Sandu declared during the signing ceremony.
A similar application for membership was made on Thursday by Georgia. The two countries will join Ukraine in the accession efforts, after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski on Tuesday called on the EU to approve the quick entry of Kiev in the context of the Russian invasion of his country.
