New 1+1 meeting to take place in Tiraspol on April 16; Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration announces agenda of discussions

The political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol will hold a meeting tomorrow in the 1+1 format. The discussions’ agenda will include topics related to the creation of the Convergence Fund, free movement, human rights and the fields of education and environment. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today made statements to this effect, after the cabinet meeting.

Another topic to be discussed will be the illegal detention of citizens on the left bank of Dniester River.

"The Pancioha case and other high-profile cases, such as Zaharov, Cenusa, Ceban, and Zimin, are under the attention of the Reintegration Policies Bureau. This topic was included on the agenda of the 1+1 discussions held on February 26, 2026. It has also been included in the agenda of a meeting due on April 16. International actors, including the OSCE Mission to Moldova, have been alerted to intervene in the case of citizen Pancioha and other high-profile cases which, unfortunately, have not yet been resolved," said Valeriu Chiveri.

The official emphasized that the April 16 meeting would be held in Tiraspol.

"The 1+1 format is an important and useful platform. Even if we do not always manage to achieve our goals set, it is good to meet, to discuss and to see which topics could be implemented, in order to bring the two banks of Dniester closer together. I would not say that, in this format, we have achievements or openness on general, political issues, but there are some individual cases that find solutions within this communication. In this regard, we will continue to work, in order to get  as many benefits as possible for citizens on both banks of Dniester," Valeriu Chiveri underlined.

The 1+1 format in the Transnistrian settlement involves direct discussions between the chief negotiators on behalf of Chisinau and Tiraspol. This dialogue focuses on resolving current problems, including social, economic and educational aspects.
