Parliament voted: elections to be held on 28 September
On 28 September 2025, parliamentary elections will take place in the Republic of Moldova. A decision in this regard was adopted on 17 April by the Parliament with 57 votes.
According to Veronica Roșca, the head of the legal committee on rules and immunities, 28 September was selected in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Electoral Code and the Parliament's Regulations.
"28 September 2025 is set for the parliamentary elections. This decision will come into effect upon publication in the Official Journal," said Roșca.
The MP said that these are ordinary parliamentary elections. According to the law, Parliament is elected for a four-year term, and the election date is set no more than three months prior to the expiration of the current Parliament's mandate. The manner in which the elections are conducted is established by an organic law.
Veronica Roșca noted that setting the date of September 28 complies with legal provisions.
The current Parliament of the Republic of Moldova was elected in the early elections of July 5, 2021.
