PM says Moldovans not only want to be Europeans, but also work for this, deserve to be part of European family
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has welcomed the conclusions of the annual report on the European Union's enlargement, presented by the European Commission today, highlighting that Moldova achieved the biggest progress among all candidate states.
"The remarkable progress over the last year shows that Moldovans not only want to be Europeans, but also work for this and deserve to be part of the European family," the PM said in a public post.
According to the prime minister, the European Commission's report confirms that Moldova has made significant advances in all key areas, from judicial reform and fighting organized crime to energy, education, digitalization, regional development, social policies, food safety and fisheries.
"The report recognizes the immense efforts made by our institutions - the government and parliament - but especially by the people who work daily for a European Moldova," wrote Alexandru Munteanu.
He noted that these results are all the more valuable, given that progress was made in a complicated year, marked by multiple internal and external crises. On this period, Moldovan officials completed the compatibility analysis of national legislation with European legislation, developed the National Accession Programme and worked on negotiation positions with the European Union.
"With each step we take, we prove that Moldova is capable and that we are determined to fulfill the goal of joining the European Union as soon as possible," concluded Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The European Commission's report is part of the 2025 Enlargement Package and evaluates the progress made by the countries candidates for accession. The document notes that Moldova has made the most visible progress in the integration process, which could allow the opening of the next negotiation clusters by the end of this year.
