
President considered as historic decision to offer Moldova status of candidate country for EU membership
Chisinau, June 23 / MOLDPRES /- We are on the road to the European Union, which will bring more well-being, more opportunities and more order to Moldovans in their country. The statement was made tonight by the head of state, Maia Sandu, after the European Council granted the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union.
The official described the event as a "historic day for Moldova". "We have a complicated road ahead, which will require a lot of work and effort - and which we are ready to travel together to ensure a better future for citizens. Moldova has a future in the European Union! ”, said Maia Sandu.
The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have received the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union. The decision of the European Council was approved unanimously tonight.
