Prime Minister: Final battle for future of country

Prime Minister Dorin Recean delivered a message to citizens today in the context of the parliamentary elections on September 28. The official compared the election to a 'battle for the future of our country' and urged all citizens to participate 'with an honest vote'.

He denounced interference attempts from the Russian Federation to influence the vote and mentioned that 'Russia is spending hundreds of millions of euros to buy votes in the September 28 elections'.

The Prime Minister warned of possible incidents in the context of the elections, but assured that 'the CEC has all tools to protect the vote'.

'They may try to turn off the lights, organize fake bomb alerts, cyberattack the information system related to elections, to pressure the institutions. Whatever scenario they apply, the CEC has all instruments to protect the vote', mentioned Dorin Recean.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to mobilize and participate in the elections with an 'honest vote'.

'I call on all Moldovans, from home or European countries - we cannot change what Russia does, but we can change what we do, as a people. Let's transform concern into mobilization and wise actions. Let's retaliate by blocking their schemes. If you see a provocation at the polling station or in the village, if you know of a vote-buying case, report to the police. If the lights go out, for example, if the voting process is interrupted, if they make fake bomb alarms, as they have done before, do not panic, listen to the authorities and continue to vote honestly. You have the power. The state is with you, and you must be with the state. Dear citizens, the final battle for the future of our country is being fought. And I urge you all to participate with an honest vote', he stated.

On 28 September, parliamentary elections will be held in the Republic of Moldova.
