Moldovan ruling party's candidate for PM office says current ministers represent youthful team, which has achieved much in four years

The candidate for the office of prime minister on behalf of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Alexandru Munteanu, says that professionalism, reputation and willingness to work would be the main criteria in selecting the new composition of Moldova’s government.

Munteanu said that he had already held meetings with the current ministers, appreciating the involvement and energy of the governmental team.

“I saw a team with youthful momentum, a team unlike any I have encountered in my life. I believe this team has achieved much in these four years. We will make certain adjustments, but on the whole, I have a good feeling. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but the team is generally ready for it,” Munteanu said.

At the same time, the PAS candidate emphasized that there would be changes in the structure of the future cabinet of ministers, but he has not yet provided details, citing upcoming discussions with parliamentary factions.

Munteanu also said that the European future of Moldova was no longer in question, with the focus now being on how the country will implement the necessary reforms.

“Today, no one doubts Moldova's European future. The discussions focus on how we will carry out this process,” he clarified.

As for the priorities of his administration, Alexandru Munteanu said that all efforts would be directed towards economic growth and social welfare.

“Increasing the volume of investments, developing small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting socially vulnerable groups through access to education and quality medical services are the main directions,” the PAS candidate for PM stressed.

Alexandru Munteanu is set to be officially designated to create the new government, after the Action and Solidarity Party’s victory at the parliamentary elections on September 28.
