Ambassador of Greece to Moldova visits Medical University

Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) is set to open a hospital at the institution’s headquarters and relies on the support of European partners. USMF Rector Emil Ceban has discussed Ambassador of Greece to Moldova Nikolaos Krikos the cooperation of the competent institutions from the two countries, identification of opportunities of developing the relations in the education, research and health sectors.    

Rector Emil Ceban made a short presentation of the University, since its foundation till present, and highlighted the process of internationalization of the partnerships with profile institutions from Greece. In the context, professor Ceban stressed that the main prerogative of the University was the creation of the University Hospital and that he relied on the support of the European partners.    

Ambassador Krikos expressed appreciation for the laborious work of the team and the progress made by the University during years. At the same time, the diplomat stressed the importance of the quality education between the higher education institutions, especially in the medicine field – a sector of common interest. ‘’For the first time since the proclamation of Moldova’s independence, a diplomatic representation of Greece was opened in Chisinau and, in my capacity of ambassador, I assure you of the support of the diplomatic mission in the promotion of the bilateral cooperation at the level of states and institutions,’’ the ambassador said.      

The sides also discussed the possibilities of extending the programmes of academic mobility and joint research between USMF and universities of Greece.

The delegation visited several conference halls, protocol halls and education rooms at the first didactic block of the University, in order to familiarize with the infrastructure and conditions in which the future physicians are educated. Ambassador Krikos was able to discuss with students and teachers and to exchange opinions of the medical education and scientific research.    

The rector thanked the Greek diplomat for the interest showed in USMF, stressing the openness and commitment of the University to develop new international partnerships with counterparts from Greece.
