Crisis Cell: Several Moldovan citizens evacuated from Dubai via route organized by Romanian authorities

Several Moldovan citizens are being evacuated from Dubai on a route organized by the Romanian authorities, on Muscat (Oman) – Bucharest route, through the rescEU program, part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The route departed today from Dubai and is scheduled to arrive in Bucharest on March 13.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in the United Arab Emirates the security situation remains under the control of the authorities. They continue to monitor developments, and public services and infrastructure are operating normally. Commercial flights continue to operate from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, but in a limited regime, depending on the decisions of the authorities and airlines.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Abu Dhabi maintains direct contact with Moldovan citizens in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and provides consular assistance according to the requests received.

In the State of Israel, the security situation remains unchanged compared to the previous period. The state of emergency has been extended until March 23 this year, and the restrictions in force remain applicable until March 14. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel continues to monitor developments and to provide consular assistance to citizens of the Republic of Moldova in that country.

The situation in the State of Qatar remains largely unchanged. The airspace is partially reopened for limited flights, and the authorities continue to manage security developments. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Doha continues to handle requests for consular assistance and to identify transit or departure options from the region for Moldovan citizens in the State of Qatar.

According to updated data, a total of 10 active individual evacuation requests are registered, 16 cases have already been resolved, and three cases are under review. In addition, approximately 60 citizens of the Republic of Moldova have requested information about the current situation and options for leaving the country.

Most of the citizens who managed to leave the State of Qatar used land routes to Saudi Arabia, especially to Riyadh, and in some cases to Dubai, from where they continued their journey by flights to European destinations or Istanbul. Some of the evacuations were carried out with the support of the embassies of Romania and Poland.

The Republic of Türkiye continues to represent an important transit point for citizens leaving the region. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara monitors developments and maintains contact with citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the states for which it is concurrently accredited.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Baku, Azerbaijan, continues to monitor security developments in the region and maintains contact with the competent authorities and diplomatic partners for the ongoing assessment of the situation.

Chisinau foreign ministry recommends that citizens in the region follow the instructions of local authorities, check the status of flights directly with airlines and keep in touch with the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova.

According to official information, there are no recorded deaths or injuries among citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the states in the region. The embassies of the Republic of Moldova maintain direct contact with Moldovan citizens in the Middle East and provide consular assistance according to the requests received.
