Defense Minister denounces smear campaign
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi claims that manipulations and false information targeting the National Army have been spread in the public space, which he describes as part of an organized campaign to discredit the institution. The statements were made today, after the Cabinet meeting.
The official says he reacted emotionally to some accusations made by a former Minister of Defense, emphasizing his commitment to the field of defense and to the National Army.
“I care deeply about our army and the field of defense, and in this context it is difficult for me to overlook these attacks and injustices,” the minister declared.
Nosatîi also states that, recently, a coordinated action by certain political actors has been taking shape, allegedly aiming to discredit the National Army and block reforms in the defense sector.
“One can see an organized and well-orchestrated campaign by several political actors, who seek to discredit the National Army, as well as to stop the reforms we are implementing,” the Defense Minister noted.
Previously, former Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuța accused the head of defense of an “attempt at intimidation.”
