Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Washington resumes activity after building renovation
The activity of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the United States of America has resumed following the completion of renovation works at its premises, with the institution announcing that it is reopening its doors to citizens, partners and visitors.
Representatives of the diplomatic mission said that the embassy team is returning to the renovated building, where it will continue to provide consular services and support for the Moldovan community in the USA. According to the Embassy, the modernized space is designed to facilitate direct interaction with the public and improve service conditions.
The embassy building also has significant historical value. Built in 1898 in the Beaux-Arts style, it has been included since 1998 in the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District, an area recognized for its architectural heritage. The property hosts the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova at 2101 S Street, NW, in one of the historic neighborhoods of the U.S. capital.
On December 15, 2025, a short circuit occurred under the roof of the building at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Washington, D.C., in a hard-to-access area, which caused a small fire. The Embassy immediately alerted emergency services, and firefighters intervened promptly, preventing serious consequences.
