Morphological block of Moldovan Medical University renovated

The morphological block of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has been renovated and modernized. The total cost of reconstruction, including furnishing, is approximately 66 million lei.

At the inauguration event, USMF Rector Emil Ceban emphasized that the University's strategic objective focuses on ensuring the quality of higher education specialists’ training for the national health system.

‘’When we talk about the quality of specialist training, we refer to the quality of study programs, the competence level of the teaching and scientific and teaching staff, and, not in the least, the optimal conditions and necessary resources for conducting medical training,’’ the rector said.

The reconstruction of the Morphological Block started in July 2023. The building underwent complex structural reinforcement works. Ventilation, air conditioning, and air filtration systems were implemented, creating a healthier and more comfortable environment for students and faculty. The building has been equipped with a fire prevention system and a video surveillance system, and the thermal, electrical, water and sewer networks were fully replaced. Additionally, the façade of the building was fully renovated, including thermal insulation. The four-story block is equipped with two elevators and a changing room for 450 people has been set up in the basement.

The Morphological Block houses the Department of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy, the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology, the Tissue Engineering and Cell Cultures Laboratory and the Human Anatomy Museum. All study rooms have been equipped with new furniture and high-performance computing technology and a lecture hall with 94 seats was renovated on the third floor.

In addition, a new modern room was created, equipped with the latest technology for studying human anatomy - the Anatomage Table EDU 10.0.

The Morphological Block was built in the 1960s, when Nicolae Testemitanu was the rector of the State Institute of Medicine from Chisinau (currently USMF Nicolae Testemitanu) and was put into operation in 1964.
