Over 80 crisis management specialists to attend exercise conducted by IGSU

Chisinau, Feb. 2 /MOLDPRES/- A general staff exercise with the participation of over 80 people will be hosted by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations this month.

IGSU press officer Liliana Pușcașu said that the applications will be based on scenarios in which risk situations such as floods and earthquakes are to be managed. The exercise is expected to take place in late February.

According to the scenario, there will be a disaster of extraordinary proportions with the loss of power supply at the national level. The specialists are going to virtually activate the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to improve cooperation and coordination procedures in emegency situations between institutions and emergency services.

The exercise aims to identify the areas of improvement at the national, international and operational level of the procedures, as well as the aspects of coordination of support by the host country to facilitate the reception and integration of assistance from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Specialists from Austria, Poland, Moldova, Romania, as well as European experts in civil protection will attend the exercises.
