Passenger train service on Chișinău-Odesa route to be resumed
The passenger train service on Chișinău-Odesa route will be resumed with the opening of the summer season. Moldova Railway made the statement following a meeting between the company's director, Serghei Cotelinic, and the chairman of Ukrainian Railways Board, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.
'As a result of the discussions, the parties reached a common decision regarding the necessity to reopen the Chișinău-Odesa passenger route, which is to be launched with the opening of the summer season,' announced CFM.
According to the company, the two officials discussed 'about identifying options to resume transportation on the rail lines in the Republic of Moldova for Ukrainian goods to the European Union and vice versa, given that in the context of the regional situation resulting from the war in Ukraine, the flow of goods and passengers through the Republic of Moldova has been practically redirected.'
Representatives of the railway companies also discussed the possibility of using the ferry service by Moldova Railway to transport goods in freight wagons from the port of Chernomorsk (Ukraine) to the port of Batumi (Georgia).
Additionally, the option of creating a joint freight wagon database was analyzed, aiming for the rapid transition of border points between the two states.
