Primary care cancer patients to benefit more quickly from first investigation
Chisinau, June 7 / MOLDPRES /- People who have been diagnosed with cancer for the first time will be able to benefit more quickly from the first investigation to start treatment as soon as possible. These are computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
The National Medical Insurance Company (CNAM) has signed several additional agreements with several health care providers for more than 2,000 investigations totaling about 4.8 million lei.
"CNAM is making every effort to ensure that patients with primary cancer are found to have faster access to the first CT scan and magnetic resonance imaging, so that people can start treatment as soon as possible. We will request a separate report for the volume of high-performance investigations performed on these patients. We will also look at the extent to which the waiting time for the respective investigations is reduced ", CNAM director-general Ion Dodon said.
Currently, the average waiting time for patients diagnosed primarily with cancer in high-performance investigations is 45 days.
The referral note for the investigations is issued by the specialized doctors from the Diagnostic Advisory Center of the Oncological Institute. The mentioned investigations are carried out by six public and private providers, which have signed contracts with CNAM for this type of services.
