Pupils from non-native language schools of Moldova to study in Romanian, native language, internationally circulated languages
The pupils from non-native language schools will study in Romanian, their native language, as well as in internationally circulated languages, thus preparing to learn throughout their lives and integrate more easily into the labor market. This opportunity will be provided after the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) approved the normative framework for the implementation of multilingual education in non-native language schools of Moldova.
According to MEC, the approval of the new normative framework marks an important step in modernizing the education system and adapting it to the linguistic and cultural diversity of the country.
“By applying the new normative framework, equal opportunities will be provided to all students, regardless of their native language, in order to develop linguistic and intercultural competences suited to a modern and diverse society. Pupils will study in Romanian, their native language, as well as in internationally circulated languages, thus preparing to learn throughout their lives and integrate more easily into the labor market,” MEC noted.
For the academic years 2025–2026 and 2026–2027, a pilot phase is established, in which the approved provisions will be applied and evaluated in selected schools. The results will be analyzed and used, in order to adjust working mechanisms before the programme is expanded nationally.
The new normative framework also provides for the strengthening of the partnership between school, family and community, as well as the continuous professional development of teachers, who will receive training to apply modern and efficient methodologies.
