Sergiu Caraman remains head of Superior Council of Magistracy

Sergiu Caraman was elected today for a new term as president of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). Eight members of the SCM voted for his candidacy. His new term, which will last for two years, begins on June 10.

Sergiu Caraman thanked his colleagues for their vote and trust.

“Thank you for the vote of confidence you have given me. I have a mandate to continue what we started together. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who supported me in this competition and, at the same time, to thank my opponent, because in a genuine democracy it is good and right to have different opinions, to have discussions, and only in this way, when there are debates and differing views, can we become better. I am fully confident that we will succeed in advancing what we have set out to do. I promise that I will maintain the same behavior and the same attitude toward each member of the Superior Council of Magistracy and toward those we work with. I will reflect and promote only what is good for the judicial system and for the Council,” Caraman said.

For the position of SCM president, candidates were Aliona Miron, who received four votes from SCM members, and Sergiu Caraman.
