Speaker’s March 8 message: Voice of women in Moldova increasingly strong

Speaker Igor Grosu today conveyed a congratulatory message on the occasion of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the importance of respect, equal rights, and the active participation of women in society.

In his address, the Speaker extended congratulations to all women and girls in the Republic of Moldova, noting that this day primarily symbolizes respect and women’s rights.

“March 8 is, first and foremost, about respect and rights. In Parliament, we work so that gender equality, the protection of women’s rights, and support for their active participation in society are priorities,” Grosu stated.

According to the official, in the current legislature women are represented in a significant proportion. Of the 101 members of Parliament, 40 are women, which represents about 40% of the total.

The Speaker underlined that in recent years the Republic of Moldova has become a country in which the voice of women is increasingly strong and better represented in public life.

“It is important that every girl in Moldova knows that she has the right to equal opportunities, that she can dream without limits. Our responsibility, of those who are in charge today, is to build the conditions in which this is possible,” Grosu said.

At the end, the official wished health and success to all women in the country.
