UPDATE // Drone found near Basarabeasca settlement of Moldova had no explosives
The unmanned aerial vehicle discovered near the Chisinau–Basarabeasca road, outside the village of Carabetovca, is a “Parodiya” model and was damaged after colliding with a tree, the Police announced. Checks carried out on site, including X-ray scans, did not identify any explosive devices or substances.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, examination of the object established that it is an unmanned aerial vehicle, damaged after impact with a tree located at the roadside.
Specialists performed additional checks, including with X-rays and the results did not indicate the presence of any explosive devices or substances.
The police continue investigations to determine all the circumstances of the case.
Law enforcement officers were notified this morning by a citizen about the presence of a flying object that had fallen to the ground near the Chisinau–Basarabeasca road. Police officers intervened on the spot, secured the perimeter, and specialists examined the object to determine its type, origin and the circumstances under which it ended up in the area.
The unmanned aerial vehicle of the Parodiya model is a Russian-made decoy drone (false target), widely used in air attacks to mislead and overload air defense systems.
