USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" to launch bachelor’s program in Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology
The Faculty of Pharmacy of Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) will launch a three-year bachelor’s degree program "Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology". The new program is focused on training specialists in the development, evaluation and responsible use of cosmetic and dermato-cosmetic products.
The program will contribute to the development of professional competencies in professional counseling, interdisciplinary collaboration with dermatologists and other health specialists, as well as participation in research and development activities for innovative products.
During three years, students will complete practical internships at university facilities, cosmetology offices, community pharmacies, and dermato-cosmetic manufacturing units.
Graduates of the program can work in the cosmetic and dermato-cosmetic industry, in companies producing cosmetic products, in formulation, quality control and assurance departments, research and development, standardization and regulation, evaluation of cosmetic and dermato-cosmetic products, as well as in monitoring their safety.
Graduates can also carry out professional activities in medical cosmetics offices, dermatology clinics, and medical aesthetics centers, in collaboration with specialist physicians, contributing to the application of cosmetic procedures, patient counseling, and implementation of individualized cosmetic care plans developed by the specialist doctor.
Graduates of the new program can also work as cosmetic counseling specialists, product trainers, medical representatives, or specialists in marketing and management of cosmetic products. The competencies acquired during the studies will allow employment in laboratories for analysis and control of cosmetic products, as well as in institutions or structures responsible for assessing the conformity, safety, and quality of cosmetic products.
Another important employment direction is the commercial and consultancy sector, especially in community pharmacies, specialized stores, distribution companies, and representatives of dermato-cosmetic brands. At the same time, the program provides the necessary foundation for starting entrepreneurial activities in the medical cosmetics.
