More Moldovan education institutions to be equipped with computer technology

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - More educational institutions from Moldova will be equipped with computer technology. The Education Ministry has completed the process of selecting the institutions. The overall value of the project ,implemented with the support of the Korean International Cooperation Agency, amounts to 200,000 euros.

According to a press release by the Education Ministry, the 40 beneficiary schools will receive a laptop and an interactive whiteboard each. At the same time, each of the five continuing education institutions will have an interactive whiteboard and 21 laptops. They will be used for the professional training of future teachers and educating teachers already working in the system.

Acting Education Minister Maia Sandu said the institution she leads was committed to provide, on the medium term, the use of information technologies in all general educational institutions of Moldova, in all school subject matters, not just in IT. 

Within the Connect Yourself project, 10 schools were equipped with 500 laptops in 2014. At the same time, within the Education Reform Project in Moldova, conducted with the support of the Soros-Moldova Foundation, multimedia classes were created, equipped with tablets and interactive whiteboards, in 29 educational institutions. Starting from 2015, the educational institutions involved in the Connect Yourself project will start using the eScoala (E-school) school management software, which will allow parents visualising the pupil's grades online.
