Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - Upon an instruction of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburuci, the access to data about founders of enterprises registered in Moldova will be made public and for free, according to a press release by the Economic Council to the Prime Minister.

The information about the companies’ founders will be accessed on the governmental portal www.date.gov.md starting from April, with monthly update.

Gaburici gave the instruction in the context of repeated requests by the business environment, civil society, as well as media representatives who notified about the fact that the lack of free access to data about enterprises’ founders to third persons creates premises for fraud and corruption.

„The reality in Moldova, as well as the practice of other countries shows in abundance that it is vital that the data about founders of enterprises has to be made public. This measure will diminish corruption acts, protectionism and will ensure a high level of confidence in the business environment in Moldova, both for local and foreign investors,” Chiril Gaburici said.

In October 2014, following the joint efforts of the State Registration Chamber, State Enterprise CRIS Registru, Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister and E-governing Centre, information about the registration date, list of managers, legal and organisational form, statute and headquarters of all legal entities registered in Moldova was published. At present, all these data may be accessed for free on the portal www.date.gov.md.

Also, starting from April 2015, data about the field of work and authorised activities of Moldovan legal entities will be added on the portal www.date.gov.md.

About 204,000 companies, of which 172,000 are active, are registered in Moldova.
