European Parliament's delegation on visit to Moldova

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - A mission of Security and Defence Sub-Committee of the European Parliament pays a visit to Moldova, on 20-23 July, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The European Parliament’s delegation is led by the mentioned sub-committee head, Anna Elżbieta Fotyga. The delegation also includes MEPs Bogdan Andrzej Zdrojewski, Inés Ayala Sender and Doru-Claudian Frunzulica.

The European officials will discuss with the Moldovan authorities aspects related to ensuring regional security and evolutions in the Transnistrian region.

Under the agenda, MEPs will meet Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Acting Prime Minister Natalia Gherman.

At the same time, the delegation will hold talks with MPs of the parliamentary commission for national security, defence and public order.

MEPs will also meet Acting Interior Minister Oleg Balan, Acting Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru, as well as Head of Major Staff of the National Army Igor Gorgan.

The agenda also includes meetings with the management of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), OSCE Mission in Moldova, as well as the EU Delegation to Moldova.

The European officials will also meet Chisinau General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and representatives of civil society.
