Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today went to the History and Philosophy Faculty at the Moldovan State University (USM) to encourage the first-year students and urge them to persevere in study, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

The prime minister, who also graduated from this faculty, said that he had entered the precincts of the USM central bloc with great emotions, just as in 1987, when he entered this building as a student. "State figures and patriots of this country were formed at the History Faculty and namely here I ruled to set a string of defining thoughts, ideas and trends for the work of the government in the short- and medium terms," Valeriu Strelet said.

In his public speech, the prime minister also spoke to professors and students about his stance on the independence, statehood, public administration reform, banking system, economy and people's well-being. "Justice, state based on the rule of law, fighting corruption are defining elements to bring back the confidence of the citizens and business people in law and justice. As long as the civil servants, judges, prosecutors, policemen, fiscal bodies' employees, customs officers, all kind of inspectors treat the public office as a heavenly manna that brings incomes without any kinds of risks, it will be necessary to consolidate all sound forces of the society to get rid of this scourge," Valeriu Strelet said.

The students had possibility to put the prime minister questions, with the subjects focused, in particular, on the situation in the financing and banking sector and problems from the left bank of Dniester.
