Moldovan electoral body deputy head dismissed from office

17:08 | 13.10.2015 Category: Political

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/-The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today voted for the dismissal of Stefan Uratu from the office of CEC deputy head, for actions incompatible with his CEC permanent member status.

The decision to dismiss Uritu from office emerged after his public and political statements on allegedly rigging parliamentary and local elections.

The CEC leadership said the institution was independent and apolitical; its members took oath of office to avoid making political statements and any other actions of this kind.

Uritu will still be a member of the electoral body.

Seven members voted for the approval of the decision and only one abstained from voting.
