Moldovan authorities meet representatives of Afghan Civil Aviation

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan authorities today demanded that official representatives of Afghanistan urgently provide Moldova with the needed information on the case of the helicopter downed in this country. The director of the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority, Mircea Maleca, made the request at a meeting in Canada.

The press service of the aforementioned Authority has said that the meeting took place within a reunion at the headquarters of the International Civil Organisation Organisation (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.

Representatives of the Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority said they were doing their utmost to collect information and ensure data exchange to settle the problem.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova, along with the air company "Valan International Cargo Charter" and representatives of the Contractor of the U.S. Government today confirmed the death of a Moldovan citizen, member of the crew, whose identity has not been officially confirmed for the time being. 

A helicopter belonging to a company from Moldova was shot down and seized by Islamic State militants in Afghanistan on 24 November. There were 21 people onboard, of whom three Moldovans. Afterwards, Afghan special troops who came on the spot discovered four corpses, of which one would belong to a man of the crew. Presently, the fate of the rest of the 17 persons is still unknown, with searches underway.
