US donates 300-thousand-dollar worth medical equipment to Moldovan National Army

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/-The U.S. Embassy to Moldova donated a batch of medical equipment and material worth 300 thousand dollars to the National Army. The equipment was offered today after the completion of the “Falcon Medic 2016” bilateral drills, which lasted for two weeks, at “Stefan cel Mare” motorised infantry brigade, in Chisinau.

The press officer of the Defence Ministry, Ala Diaconu said the donation had been offered with the support of “Project C.U.R.E” American nongovernmental organization, through the HIV/AIDS Prevention programme of the U.S. State Department of Defense.

According to the commander of the National Army drills, Lieutenant Colonel Alexandru Lesan, 44 medical professionals and medical-military institutions of the National Army, along with 20 officers of North Carolina National Guard, participated in the drills. According to the scenario, National Army and U.S. doctors simulated a medical care exercise, at the pre-hospitalization stage, during an incident with mass victims. The medical staff intervened at more training places, participating inclusively in chemical decontamination, emergency medical wards, medical evacuation, combat stress fighting, etc.

The “Falcon Medic 2016” drills are part of the Nursing programme implemented in the National Army with the support of North Carolina National Guard starting with 2013. It is the second Moldovan-American military exercise organized in Moldova in May 2016. “Dragoon Pioneer 2016” was the first exercise in this sense and aimed to achieve a joint training of sapper sub-units and increase the interoperability level between Moldovan and U.S. armies.
