Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/- The Supervisory Committee of the PARE 1+1 Programme on attracting remittances into the economy today approved 34 applications on grant funding submitted by the companies created by immigrants or their relatives, amounting to 6.58 million lei. Under estimations, 210 new jobs will be created, and cumulative investments in the national economy will stand for over 22.6 million lei.

According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic reviewed the applications’ geography and demanded the Organisation for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) to hold more effective actions in promoting the PARE 1+1 Programme in the northern and southern districts, as very few applications are recorded in the areas. “It is needed to draw more actively in promoting the programme the district authorities, mayoralties and especially, business incubators, which we have in these regions”, Calmic said.

Of all requests, 50 per cent are initiated in agriculture and streamlined to cultivate cereals and grapevine, to grow plants and animals etc. A number of 12 enterprises, accepted for non-refundable financing, are operating in service delivery, and other five ones – in processing industry.

ODIMM director-general Iulia Iabanji said that the institution carried out an ample programme of promoting the PARE 1+1 Programme, including via diplomatic missions, diaspora, development partners etc.

The PARE 1+1 Programme is meant to mobilize the human and financial resources of Moldovan migrant workers in sustainable economic development of Moldova by boosting creation and development of small and medium enterprises. The programme operates under the rule 1+1, so that each Moldovan leu invested from remittances will be refilled with one Moldovan leu in the form of grant within the programme. Beneficiaries from grants can be migrant workers, citizens of Moldova and beneficiaries from remittances and first degree relatives.
