Romanian policemen confiscate more than half kilogram of silver jewelry from Moldovan woman

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - Romanian border policemen today at about 3:00 detained a Moldovan woman, while trying to cross the Sculeni border checkpoint with 610 grams of silver jewelry, undeclared in customs.

According to the Territorial Inspectorate of the Iasi Border Checkpoint, the 47-year-old woman was a passenger of a Volkswagen mini-bus.

Following a detailed control of the persons and luggage from the mini-bus, the joint team, made of border policemen and customs inspectors, discovered in the woman’s pockets 155 jewels of white metal (presumably silver) with an overall weight of 0.610 kg, for which the woman could not present legal documents.

The border policemen confiscated the jewelry and levied a civil fine to the woman for non-declaring the assets worth 8,000 Romanian lei (about 40,000 Moldovan lei).
