Chisinau, 7 June /MOLDPRES/- The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will strengthen the support offered to Moldova's entrepreneurs. This was examined at a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and Yoko Takebayashi, Deputy Head of the Europe and Middle East Department of the Agency. Attending the event were also representatives of the Organization for the Development of the Small and Medium Enterprises (ODIMM).

“There are several areas of collaboration that are of interest to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, which can be turned to good account. One of these priorities is to strengthen the export capacities of the SME sector. In this respect, the government takes the necessary steps to develop small and medium-sized enterprises and create a favorable business environment for economic agents so that Moldovan products and services are competitive on foreign markets," Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Iulia Costin said.

Acting director-general of ODIMM Petru Gurgurov said that the organization in partnership with JICA had launched the first Consulting and Business Assistance Center in Moldova. “We aim to expand the consultancy services in the regions through the 11 business incubators in the country," Petru Gurgurov said.

In the context, the Japanese official reiterated JICA's support to identify all opportunities for technical cooperation and adaptation of the legal framework for entrepreneurship, thus enabling the business sector in our country to develop more dynamically.

JICA was founded in 1974 and is a technical assistance implementation institution focused on institutional capacity building, enterprise strengthening and human resources development to help developing countries initiate sustainable economic and social development.
