Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research said that the activity of the Vadul lui Voda camp, where several children have been beaten, had to be stopped before this incident, due to several irregularities. They were identified by State Secretary for Education Angela Cutasevici, who went to the camp yesterday afternoon.

Initially, the official was restricted from entering the camp, claiming that it was private property. Only after 30-40 minutes a guard opened the gate, but in the meantime, seven teenagers disappeared and were not found, according to the Ministry of Education. The state secretary inspected the rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, shower cabins, "which proved to be unsanitary and deplorable." For these reasons, the ministry believes that the institution’s activity should have ceased before the incident on the night of 7 to 8 August.

Thus, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research regrets the incident at the "Trandafirul" Camp and condemns any form of violence against the child. "People who commit or admit acts of aggression to children must be excluded from the education system and sued at law,” the ministry said.

The government commission for organizing and monitoring summer rest for children and teenagers will convene today. Rrepresentatives of the National Agency for Public Health, the State Labor Inspectorate, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Vadul lui Voda mayoralty, Hancesti education department, as well as the economic agent managing the camp were invited to the event. All details of the case will be considered at the meeting.
