OSCE Ministerial Council welcomes Moldovan government's effort in Transnistrian file

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The 25th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, at a today’s plenary meeting, adopted a Declaration on the developments in the process of Transnistrian conflict settlement in the 5+2 format, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

The document reaffirms the firm position of the OSCE participating states to identify a comprehensive, peaceful and sustainable solution to the Transnistrian conflict, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, in its internationally recognized borders, with determining a special status for the Transnistrian region, able to guarantee the observance of the inalienable political, economic and social rights of the residents.  

The Ministerial Council appreciates the major achievements got on subjects present in the package Berlin plus (apostille of diplomas, access to the Latin-script schools, access to the farmlands from the Dubasari district, access to the bridge Gura Bacului-Bacioc, vehicles from the Transnistrian region), as well as the substantial progress recorded in the telecommunications issue.   

The 5+2 format actors are urged to fully implement the agreements reached, edifying a solid foundation for the advancement of the settlement process, continuing to interact at all levels, with making tangible progress on all items of the agenda of negotiations agreed upon.  

The ministerial Declaration highlights the important role of the permanent conference on political issues in the Transnistrian settlement process (5+2 negotiations format), to identify a viable and sustainable solution to the conflict, by reiterating the need that the sides orient themselves towards concrete results and cooperate on all present dialogue platforms also during Slovakia’s chairmanship at OSCE, due to be exercised in 2019.    

The Declaration also appreciates the commitment of the sides which facilitate the settlement of lasting problems. Also, the mediators and observers are encouraged to continue coordinating efforts and make use of all instruments for the advancement of the settlement process.
