Grecu noted that Grosu plays inspired secondary parts, just as major parts, parts full of dramatic burden, as well as easy parts, in comical hypostases, in which he feels at large, improvising with much fun and savour. Ion Grosu also played in short-reel feature films, in Radio and TV programmes and plays, especially in entertainment ones.

Ion Grosu has played about 40 theatre parts and four film ones. In 2010, he was awarded the honorary title, Merited Artist. Grosu is laureate of the festival of young talents (1993) for playing the part of Pepelea from the play Arvinte and Pepelea by dramatist Vasile Alecsandri.
