Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/- The framework Regulation for organizing and functioning of public libraries will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 17 May.

The document sets out the mission, functions, tasks and rights of the public library, structure and organization of its work. It is applied to the institutions in the national library system.

At the same time, the libraries in the educational institutions will apply the provisions of the new regulation in so far as it does not contravene the provisions of the Education Code and the legal framework.

The document sees that the activity of public library is financed from its budget and from external sources not prohibited by law. At the same time, the public library can collect extrabudgetary income from fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships and paid services.

After publication of the framework Regulation, public libraries will work out and submit for approval their own regulations or amendments to them, in accordance with the provisions of the new document.
