Meteorologists inform about Yellow Code of dog days in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about a Yellow Code of dog days in Moldova for 11-16 June.  

Following a period of destructive rains and storm, on the aforementioned period, the maximal air temperature will fluctuate between +33 and +34 Celsius degrees.   

In this context, physicians warn especially elderly people, pregnant women, children and patients sick with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, allergic persons to avoid exposing to sun, to opt for light clothing, preferably of linen, to cover their heads and take care to hydrate.      

Weather forecasters noted that the rains might return on 13 June, preponderantly in the northern region.

Specialists estimate that June might become the warmest one in the last years, with dog days warning being less usual for this period.

According to SHS, in June, the average multi-annual air temperature in Moldova varies between +17.8 Celsius degrees in the northern region and +20 Celsius degrees in the south. The coldest June for all period of measurements was recorded in 1979, when the average monthly air temperature oscillated between +15.1 degrees (Briceni) and +17 degrees (Tiraspol). The warmest June was recorded in 2007 and 2012. The average monthly air temperatures varied between +20.6 degrees in Briceni and +24 degrees in Dubasari.
