More officials lay flowers at memorial complex Eternity on occasion of 75 years since liberation of Moldova

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, together with President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, MPs, dignitaries, representatives of the diplomatic corps, veterans have laid flowers, on Saturday, 24 August, at the Memorial Complex Eternity on occasion of 75 years since the liberation of Moldova from fascist invaders, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

"We have not forgotten and we shall honour the heroism of our compatriots. We must convey the truth about the events of that period to future generations, in order for them to be proud of the heroism of their ancestors, which had sacrificed themselves in battle for our future, for our right to be free. We worship gratefully the heroes of World War II (WWII) for the defence of the Motherland, those which had resisted and worked behind front, post – war generations, which had rebuilt from ruins the cities and villages of our country," said in the statement issued on this occasion, Zinaida Greceanii.

On 24 August, 1944, following operation Iasi – Chisinau, Chisinau was freed from fascist occupation. This year, on occasion of 75 years since the liberation of Moldova, there have been organised more events, and today the officials will lay flowers at the Memorial Complex Cap de pod Serpeni, at the Monument of liberating heroes in front of the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), restored at the initiative of President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, and it will be organised a grand concert on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in the evening.
