Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, gave a positive note to a draft law on the amendment of Article 52 of the Contravention Code. The latter was adjusted to the new provisions of the Electoral Code, which bans the electoral agitation both on the day of the polls and on the day before them.

The draft sees the replacing of the word “voting” by “the day of election and the day before the polls.” Thus, the continuation of the electoral agitation or agitation to back a referendum “both on the day of election and the day before the polls” is sanctioned with fine worth from 15 to 30 conventional units, imposed to a private person and with fine worth from 35 to 50 conventional units, imposed against a decision-maker or electoral candidate.

Under the amendments made by the parliament in November 2018, the fines were imposed for continuing the electoral agitation and agitation for supporting a referendum on the day of the elections, either inside the polling station or at the entrance into the polling station.
