Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- The education system must grow a generation free from corruption, and pupils, students and parents should definitely give up informal payments, bribery or favoritism. This is one of the messages transmitted by anti-corruption volunteers in a flash mob promoting integrity in education, organized on September 20, in Chisinau.

The young people informed the citizens about corruption, what are the penalties for giving and taking bribes, where they can call if they are asked for bribes, etc.

The activity took place with the support of the project Fight against corruption by strengthening integrity in the Republic of Moldova, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with the National Anticorruption Center.

According to Olga Crivoliubic, UNDP project manager, young people play an important role in preventing corruption. "Anti-corruption volunteers can transmit information from peer to peer, and this is one of the most effective ways of informing. During this year, UNDP supported several activities to inform young people about corruption and promote integrity and such actions will be organized in the future as well. ” she said.

For his part, Ion Pruteanu, head of department at the National Anticorruption Center, said that the CNA created an intervention cell that examines the cases of collecting informal payments in the education system and only in the first week of the current school year 22 notifications from parents were registered.

The group of anti-corruption volunteers was formed in April by the National Anticorruption Center.

Supported by UNDP, 20 young people participated in several activities to promote integrity in education by which they aimed to combat informal taxes, favoritism, copying - practices that generate corruption in education. The flash mob for promoting integrity in education will be organized in the coming weeks in other cities of the country, including Orhei and Balti.
