Chisinau, 08 November /MOLDPRES/ – Romania supports the efforts of Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, and the ruling coalition to overcome the current political deadlock. The announcement was made by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Romania in Chisinau, Daniel Ionita, on his official page.

In the message transmitted by the Bucharest authorities, it is mentioned that "the reforms are critical for the democratic development of Moldova and the maintenance of its European path".

"As a strategic partner, Romania calls for political responsibility, underlining the need for the political leaders of Moldova to identify quickly the consensus on a solution that will ensure stability, keep the path to justice reform, allow the Government to improve the lives of all citizens of Moldova, as well as to continue the European course of the country”, says the message.

In the afternoon of today, the USA has launched a message for politicians in Chisinau urging them to find a consensus on a solution to keep the path to justice reform and allow the Government to work to improve the lives of Moldovan citizens.

The dissensions on the political scene in Chisinau appeared after the Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate, canceled the results of the contest for the position of General Prosecutor at the beginning of this week. The same day, the Government approved by the procedure of assuming responsibility new rules for selecting the General Prosecutor.

On 07 November, both the head of state, Igor Dodon, and Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, had meetings with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau, which discussed the political situation in Moldova.

On the morning of this day, the MPs from the PSRM faction announced that they would submit a censure motion against the Government headed by Maia Sandu at the legislative session if it did not withdraw the draft by which were modified the rules of appointment of the General Prosecutor.
