Moldovan government considers issue of supply with water of north-western district

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned to a meeting decision-makers from central and local public authorities, in order to consider the issue of supply with water of the north-western Falesti district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Ion Chicu said that the problem of water supply was urgent. “The projects underway must be revised and finished. We considered the situation in Hancesti, settlements of the Prut river meadow. Work is already carried out there. I want us to see what we can undertake in Falesti, so that people benefit from supply with drinking water as soon as possible,” the PM noted.    

The project manager informed about the present situation and the investments needed to give the final touches to the works. The project, which was started in 1984, is ready at a level of 90 per cent. It is necessary to carry out a string of works of arrangement nearby the water treatment station, to restore 2.5 km of road and to test the equipment and pumps installed several years ago.  

As much as 112 million lei has been invested in the project so far. About 15 million lei is necessary to end to works. In six months at the latest, the station will start working and will supply with drinking water about 20,000 consumers from the Falesti town, as well as the villages of Bocsa, Risipeni, Navarnet and Albinet.  

State Secretary Dorin Andros said that the Prut-Falesti aqueduct had a capacity to provide with water the entire Falesti district.    

Prime Minister Chicu asked the working group to make an evaluation of the water main, the water treatment station and the equipments, in order to clear up the need of money for finishing the works and extending the project in all settlements of the Falesti district.
