FBI, MAI signed memorandum of cooperation, exchange of data, information

Chisinau, Aug. 5 /MOLDPRES/- A memorandum of cooperation and mutual exchange of information on the identification of fingerprints for criminal justice and counter-terrorism purposes was signed today in Chisinau by Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco, and officials of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), following the signing of the document, MAI specialists will be able to exchange operative information with FBI agents, regarding criminal and terrorist groups of common interest. They will also exchange experience on ways to detect and combat criminal activity through investigative techniques, as well as the use of scientific methods and technologies.
The memorandum will also provide the ability to obtain from the FBI's database, which has nearly 80 million records, results and data on terrorists and transnational criminals known or suspected of committing crimes. The document will facilitate the conduct of investigations, improve the effectiveness of law enforcement and promote public safety.
