Moldovan deputy PM for European integration on working visit to Brussels

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov has led Moldova’s delegation in Brussels, where the process of assessment of the degree of compliance of the national legislation to the European Union’s one started, the government’s communication department reported.   

The meeting included discussions with European Commission’s officials, who will work along with the governmental team during the process of negotiations. The sides agreed upon the calendar and the procedural details of the stage of assessment of the national legislation’s conformity with the EU’s acquis.   

Also, Deputy PM Cristina Gherasimov met the director general of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert-Jan Koopman. The officials referred to the latest developments in the fulfillment of those three conditions, according to the European Commission’s report from November 2023. According to the deputy prime minister, special emphasis will be put on the continuation of the reforms in the judicial system and the process of de-oligarchization.   

Also, the participants in the meeting analyzed possibilities of turning to account the assistance and expertise at the level of the European Commission, in order to strengthen the capacities of the Bureau for European Integration, of the team of negotiators and the experts from the national institutions.
