
Railway corridor Vălcineț – Ocnița – Bălți – Ungheni – Chișinău – Căinari to be modernized in Moldova
Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide financial support for the modernization of the railway infrastructure from Moldova. The MPs today ratified an agreement on loan to this end.
EBRD will provide Moldova with a loan worth 23 million euros, in two installments. Also, the country will benefit from a grant worth 20 million euros, provided by the European Commission. The money will be used for carrying out of repair works on the railway corridor, Vălcineț – Ocnița – Bălți – Ungheni – Chișinău – Căinari.
The loan will be approved for a 15-year repayment period. The agreement on loan between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, RLF – Moldovan Railways Crisis Response, was signed in Chisinau on 27 June 2023.
