Deputy premier has meeting with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari today had a courtesy meeting with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova Simon Springett, as well as string of UN agencies which carry out assistance programmes in Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.  

The UN agencies’ representatives reviewed the programmes carried out and expressed openness for extending the cooperation on diverse subjects of common interest.  

„We have a framework of partnership for sustainable development for 2018-2022 fully adjusted to the national development aspirations – a document which sees financing worth almost 160 million dollars. Besides, the UN system worked out an ambitious plan of assistance in the recovery following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes also activities in the Transnistrian region,’’ the UN resident coordinator in Moldova, Simon Springett, said.  

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari thanked for the development assistance provided to Moldova and informed about the government’s priorities in the Transnistrian settlement process. The official expressed interest in continuing the cooperation in the interest of Moldova’ citizens from both banks of Dniester, with a continuous dialogue needed to enhance the confidence between the two banks. At the same time, the sides tackled the necessary amount of assistance for the Reintegration Policies Bureau and eventual new cooperation sectors.   

Attending the meeting were the UN Resident Coordinator, UN Development Programme Resident Representative, representatives of the International Organization for Migration, United Nations Population Fund, UN Women, United Nations Office for Human Rights, UN Children’s Fund and UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
