
Moldovan foreign affairs minister to pay working visit to Prague
Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu on 25-26 May will pay a visit to Prague, in the context of marking, on 1 June 2022, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Czech Republic, thus marking the friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries. Also, a principal goal of the visit represents the promotion of Moldova’s European integration agenda, given that the Czech Republic will hold the Presidency of the European Union’s Council in the second half of this year, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The Moldovan diplomacy head will have a bilateral meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský. The officials will discuss ways of strengthening the bilateral cooperation in fields of common interest, the security situation in the region, in the context of the war in Ukraine and the social and economic impact on Moldova, the humanitarian assistance provided by the Czech authorities to Moldova for managing the flow of refugees, as well as the country’s European agenda.
The meeting of the two foreign affairs ministers will also occasion the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which is set to consolidate the lasting partnership between the Diplomatic Institute of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry and the Diplomatic Academy of the Czech Foreign Affairs Ministry.
At the same time, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu will meet in Prague President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil, Minister of EU Affairs Mikuláš Bek, senator, head of the committee on foreign affairs and defence, Pavel Fischer, as well as representatives of local and international media, academic organizations and analytical centres in the field of international relations and EU affairs from the Czech Republic.
