Moldovan PM has meeting with Romanian diplomacy head

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - The goals of the Moldovan-Romanian bilateral agenda in the fields of security, economy, investments, as well as the support on behalf of the Romanian government for the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union have been the subjects tackled at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean with Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister Luminita Odobescu, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

PM Dorin Recean thanked the Romanian authorities for the constant support to attenuate the economic consequences of Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine, for the expertise and firm support of Moldova in the process of carrying out the European agenda. The prime minister stressed that the economic development stayed one of the government’s priorities, along with the fulfillment of the commitments taken in the reformation of the justice system.     

„We have the obligation to build the connection infrastructure – roads, bridges, energy networks with Romania. To create a common digital area, for the benefit of the citizens on both banks of the Prut river. We are determined to maintain a friendly investment environment, for the attraction of Romanian investors, in continuation,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted.     

The Romanian diplomacy head, Luminita Odobescu, reiterated Bucharest’s support necessary for the speeding up of Moldova’s European integration process, including through the continuation and extension of the training courses for the central public administration on the legislation adjusting to the EU acquis.      

„Continuity and backing – this is the message by Romania’s government for Moldova. We appreciate the progress made in the process of adaptation of the reforms in the justice sector, fighting corruption, which is visible both in Bucharest and in Brussels. We are open to provide the expertise and consultancy needed in the process of adaptation of the policies for the fulfillment of the European vector,’’ Minister Luminita Odobescu said.   

The officials discussed also aspects on the organization of the fourth issue of the Moldova Support Platform, due to take place this year. The sides also appreciated the joint effort made for the successful organization of the Summit of European Political Community, hosted by Moldova on 1 June.
