Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/- A meeting of the National Committee for Coordination of Covid-19 Vaccination, chaired by acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, took place today at the Government. The main topic of the meeting was the examination of the current situation on implementation of the National Immunization Plan, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
According to the statistics presented by MSMPS State Secretary Denis Cernelea, from 2 March 2021, when the vaccination campaign started, and so far 1,051,038 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Thus, until today the vaccination coverage of the population is 18% - with a single dose, and 12.71% - with a complete vaccine cycle. As for the medical workers, over 82% of them received both doses of vaccine, therefore the morbidity rate among medical specialists was reduced by 90%.
According to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the immunization rate of teachers is relatively good. Given the large number of people who have received their first dose of vaccine, the vaccination coverage rate for education staff is expected to exceed 67% by 1 September.
"It is not excluded that we will soon face a new wave of pandemic, and the Delta strain is extremely aggressive and easily transmissible. I'm afraid that in the autumn when the new school year begins the situation could get worse. That is why it is important to have as many vaccinated teachers as possible. Thus, we ensure both the health of teachers and the normal working regime of educational institutions ", Ciocoi said.
In total, our country received 1,530,330 doses, of which Pfizer - 256,230, Sinopharm - 152,000, Astra Zeneca - 513,600, Sputnik - 206,000, Sinovac - 100,000 and Janssen - 302,500. The proportion of doses used is 68.6%. There are 530 vaccination points open in the country, which are active even on holidays.
In the last 14 days, the disease rate with SARS-Cov-2 virus was 46 cases per 100 thousand citizens, increasing by over 30% compared to the previous period.
