New law to regulate management of funds and interventions in agriculture
Chisinau, Dec. 18 /MOLDPRES/- Government today approved a draft law on financing, managing and monitoring agricultural policy. The new law will ensure a more efficient system of providing financial support to the agricultural sector, which will contribute to increasing the sector's competitiveness, sustainable development of the rural environment and combating climate change, the government's communication department has reported.
At the same time, the draft law will create an integrated national legislative framework, coherent and correlated with the objectives of the European Union's common agricultural policy, so as to support the attraction of European funds for agricultural development.
The document provides for the implementation of the Strategic Program of the Agricultural Policy, which will establish the intervention strategies, the conditions and the amount of financial resources granted, as well as the monitoring, evaluation and result indicators.
The draft also regulates the granting of financial support from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment for various types of interventions, such as direct payments, sectoral and rural development interventions, for the modernization of farms, the development of rural infrastructure and the promotion of innovation in agriculture.
To this end, objective and non-discriminatory criteria for all parties involved and the procedure for the submission and examination of applications for financial support are laid down.
The bill also expands agricultural advisory services for land and farm management.
According to the 2025 State Budget Law, the national fund for development of agriculture and rural environment is planned to amount to 1.7 billion lei.
