UN High Commissioner for Refugees pays visit to Moldova
Chisinau, March 4 / MOLDPRES /- On March 4-5, Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will pay a visit to Moldova. This is the first visit to our country by a UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The UN official will have meetings with President Maia Sandu with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița with the participation of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, and the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Marcel Spatari.
The delegation will also travel to the Palanca sorting center for on-the-spot documentation on how to manage the flow of refugees and the conditions in which they are accommodated in our country.
At the same time, Filippo Grandi will consult the national authorities on the proposal of the $ 1.7 billion urgent international assistance program, aimed at supporting the consolidated actions to be taken in order to ensure effective responses to the humanitarian crisis.
