Deputy Prime Minister meets with U.S. Congress delegation
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi held a meeting today in Chișinău with a delegation of the United States Congress. The discussion agenda focused on bilateral relations and the continuation of cooperation in areas of common interest.
The delegation includes the following members of Congress: Tom Cole (R-OK), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Steve Womack (R-AR), Mark Alford (R-MO), Glenn F. Ivey (D-MD), and Dave Joyce (R-OH).
During the talks, Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude for the constant support offered to our country and for the contribution of the American partners to strengthening the security and resilience of the Republic of Moldova.
“In addition, I highlighted the importance of the strategic energy infrastructure project LEA Strășeni–Gutinaș, financed by the United States, which is meant to contribute to strengthening energy independence and regional connectivity. The United States of America is an important partner of our country. We will continue close dialogue with representatives of the U.S. Congress and will further develop Moldovan–American cooperation for the benefit of our citizens,” said Popșoi.
Members of the delegation reconfirmed Congress’s interest in the Republic of Moldova and its readiness to continue supporting our country’s efforts to strengthen resilience and to accede to the European Union.
The U.S. Congress delegation is paying a visit to Chișinău today. During the visit, the officials also met with President Maia Sandu. The discussions focused on the security situation in the region, strengthening the resilience of the Republic of Moldova in the face of hybrid threats, our country’s European integration path, as well as expanding bilateral economic and energy cooperation.
